    Thinkpad T500 refresh: any updates coming down the road for it?

    I'm going to purchase a new laptop sometime around July. Any idea if Lenovo will refresh the T500 laptop by then?

    Highly, highly doubt it. The only "refresh" will be new Montevina processors (with slightly higher clocks, but same exact technology) and price cuts on selected older processors (but of the same generation), particularly the T9600.
    The only Lenovo refresh that is rumored is the T400s, a lighter and slightly "updated" version of the T400.

    I notice you made a thread for the Latitudes as well - the same applies, I doubt Dell will refresh its lineup until the new Intel platform hits Q4 of 2009.

    the newer intel platform is as per schedule due in Q3 2009. This was announced last week by intel. so we can expect a thinkpad upgrade back to school season(August-Sept).

    Lenovo released the current thinkpads after the Montevina release in july 15. we can expect teh current release in q3 2009 similarly

    Except Thinkpads didn't arrive until October... I remember waiting for them to come out last year for school. Preorders were available but until they get into your hand it doesn't matter when they first appear on the net. I expect similar delays this year...

    Yeah, I wasn't really clear. What I meant was that you likely won't be getting them until Q4 2009, although it could be announced earlier with the Calpella platform.

    I'm thinking about buying one off the US ebay outlet and then having it delivered in the uk. May be i will be selling my mac then.

    Ya don't expect the refreshes within Q3. The earliest refreshes for the current line were being received towards the end of Q3 even though the platforms were refreshed a couple months prior. Well I guess intel also lagged too with ACTUAL launch (verse soft launch). But I basically wouldn't plan on it until Q4.
