Hello everyone. Not sure if this is the right place to post. Sorry if it isn't.

I bought a thinkpad T530, and I'm looking to get a new AC adapter to travel around with, so I can leave one at home. I've found ones that are listed as compatible, but some have three prongs, and some have two.

My original one has two prongs. Does anyone here know if the three pronged ones will work? A grounded adapter seems wiser anyways.

Also, do these adapters have smart chips like the batteries?

Edit button doesn't seem to be working, but apparently the three prongs will work, assuming there aren't smart chips in them.

Edit post button is just a circle going around and around, sorry for double post.

The three-prong adapters will work fine. Make sure you get an adapter that supplies the correct wattage for your T530 though. The laptop is able to identify which adapter it's connected to, but there is no "smart chip" restricting use as far as I know.

I see. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll get the three prong adapter then. Can't be too safe!

If you got a dual core machine and integrated graphics then get 65w, if you got dual core & nvidia graphics then get 90w. Any other combination get 135w
