I need a notebook for college. I am almost finished with this semester (I have about a month left) and I can wait until the beginning of fall semester to buy one.

This does not isolate my choise to Lenovo/IBM but I do like the T60 model. I will consider ASUS as well.

How often does Lenovo come out with new models for their series? Just on average, an educated guess. I do not know when the T60 came out. I just want to know if they will have a better model out by September 2006. And if there is news covering future Lenovo models for the fall, links would be wonderful because I cannot find any.

    Basically, I need:
    14.1 " WXGA
Intel Duo processor (or any better cpu released before fall semester)
    At least a 60gb 5400rpm HD though a 7200rpm would be wonderful
    1024MB DDR2 677 (1024mb x 1)
    Built-In Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 A/B/G miniPCI

I will be using it for only work/school related and will not be playing any graphic intensive games.

I need a very durable notebook with very little to no flex and a tough case, while still being small and light (no 1.7 " thick and 6.5 lb notebooks)

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you for looking

This thread is posted in the "lenovo" forums as well as in the "what to buy?" forums because it is a what to buy thread as well as a lenovo thread.

We frown upon cross-posting. You should put in your other post you look kindly on Lenovo and Asus. Besides more people will see it over there.

I know IBM were/are VERY good, however, they are quite pricey - for me the premium is not worth it. An Asus W3J covers all your needs plus includes an x1600 as well as a 1.8ghz processor and 100gb 5400.
