How can people recommend you go from an IBM to an Acer? Is there something I'm missing these days or is Acer not the garbage can of computer components anymore?

    Well, it all depends...

...once upon a time, when there were just a few laptop/notebook manufacting companies available, there was among those companies Texas Instruments.

After some years of working in the laptop sector Texas Instruments decided to sell it's laptop division and Acer bought that laptop division (...in a similar way as IBM sold their PC division to Lenovo recently).

Nowadays Acer is one of the big successful guys in the notebook field, with a bunch of consumer and business related notebook models. - Personally I would say, some of the better TravelMate models are good and do fit the business segment. In contrast many of the cheaper Aspire consumer models are more or less bulk freight and so don't offer the same level of quality as some of the pricier TravelMates...

    ...thus it all depends.

I just had to register after reading this thread.

Couple things I would like to mention:

1.) Mods should change the misleading title.
2.) The thread starter should post pics or get lost.
3.) Even if you didn't take pics, post your order invoice.
4.) The Lenovo hate in this thread is pretty much pathetic.

    Good day.

yes, but we would be much less likely to think you are a troll or confused if you posted a pic. If you are looking at pics on the internet and saying "the quality sucks!" then that is trolling.
