What do you think of this notebook, selling at a price (converted from SGD) of 2150 USD. Is it good value for money?

    The specs:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0 Ghz
    1GB DDR2 SDRAM
    120GB 5400rpm hd with APS
    dual-layer multi-burner drive
    14,1'' TFT Display SXGA+
    128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
    56K Fax/Modem
    Gigabit Ethernet LAN
    Intel Pro Wireless 802.11b/g
    Integrated Bluetooth
    MS Windows XP Pro
    3ys int warranty

How solid is it? Does the screen ripple when pressing on the cover? How good is the display? (I will also be using it for web design.) And most importantly, is it worth the price? If not, what alternatives should I consider?

The screen should be decent, but it is not the FlexView. The T60 offers very good quality. What are you going to do with it?

Mostly work, web design, basic photo editing and graphics stuff, occasionally watching DVD and playing a game.

I just bought an R60 on the weekend. It is lower specced than yours.

The R60 should be fine but if you're coming from another notebook (like I did from a Toshiba) it may take some time in getting used to.

Also the Thinkpad is not a very sexy beast so if you're image conscious, look elsewhere. Its bulit like a tank ie very solid, and very black which is what I like.

the screen is nice an matte, not shiny so it should be easier on the eyes for those long sessions.

The T60 is a fine choice.

From what you mentioned I would suggest getting a 7200RPM hard drive if possible. I have had the 14.1 screen and liked it. Are you going to run Vista on it? I'm running it with 2gbs of ram and currently 45% of my total is in use ( just browsing the web). For vista I would get 2gbs of ram. I haven't run it on a system with 1gb, just my guess.

About the price: $2150! Where do you live? If in US, it should be under $2000 given that configuration. T60p may be more than $2000.
