Hello everybody, I am looking at purchasing a T60 with a slight issue but before I pull the trigger, I am wondering what would be the max processor and memory I can put in this T60?

From crucial's site, it shows as 4gb max...but I know often it can be incorrect.

Also, I do have a T9500 processor ready to be used and I would love to put it into this thinkpad if it would be supported and worked without issues.

Lastly, I think it's a 8744 because by looking at the bill of sale, it seems like 8744H3U L3CA870

    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately due to chipset limitations the T60 can only handle 3GB RAM. And T60's uses a Socket M pin layout so the T9500 won't fit in there i'm afraid. The highest processor you can put in a T60 is a Socket M variant of the Core 2 Duo T7600.

You should be looking out for a T61 or a T400 if you want a T9500 fitted inside though.

ah, nevermind then. I have this huge craving for a thinkpad but my dell is still working fine.

I guess I will have to wait and purchase a W-series someday in the future when the opportunity arrises lol

    thank you Hearst!

    T9500 is a socket P, the T60 uses socket M.

There are a number of sites that have the T61 for under $250. I got mine from Sears. It's in awesome condition and thanks to the BIOS mod posted on this forum it can take full advantage of my Vertex 2 (unlike my x120e). Also got a new 9-cell battery off Amazon for $35. At that price, even if the battery only lasts a year, it's well worth it. Also, the T61 can handle 8GB of RAM, unlike the T60.

+1 - I own an X61 and it's flying along thanks to a Crucial SSD and Middleton's BIOS Patch; I'm considering purchasing a T61 just now as I need the additional RAM expansion for running virtual guests via VMware Workstation.
