Laptop Magazine Review (link from this website)

They say the display is a little grainy*, most folks on this site, especially the reviews I've seen - love the display.

    * I would quote the exact statement but their website is having .ASP issues right now and won't work

    Hi I just order a t60

    for the screen it says: 14.1" TFT active matrix SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) - 24-bit (16.7 million colors)

is that the IPS display that I hear is very good in the reviews?

No. The IPS display is 15" only.

If you ordered it directly from Lenovo/IBM (and it's not an EPP offer), you can try it out and return it in the first 30 days after invoice date, no questions asked.

Exactly what I had in mind Ervin!

This is an expensive laptop order (2800 dollar) so I better be happy. Is ibm pretty fast on give back the credit ?

Also, with the AMD X2 processor being released, there will be some interesting new laptops out in 1 month.

I hope that I will be happy with it tho, its a mean machine :D

I have no idea. I ordered on Saturday, cancelled on Monday, and the order still shows as "in process". They mentioned that they might even ship it out before the cancellation goes through.

So, I guess it takes some time to have the CC hold released. They are definitely not NewEgg. :)

Off-topic: Soccer fans, the UEFA Champions' League Final is being broadcasted live on ESPN2.

I ordered and cancelled a T42 2379R5U. I haven't ordered anything else yet (I don't trust mail-in-rebates, so I will sit out the current sale).

I am looking for a T60 Core Duo 15" XGA, possibly with discrete graphics, something like the 2623D9U. Depends on what will be on sale; I am flexible. If I had an EPP discount, it would be a no brainer.

I cannot dismiss the ASUS S96J yet. Neither the HP business series. A Fujitsu E8210 is unlikely, but on the list. Very doubtful about the Dell D820.

And it's already been 4 weeks of research... ;)

my main requirement is portability and performance. I start out by almost buying the x60 but the price kept scarring me away. Then I was this <--> close to buying the MSI 1057 12inch custom built with my config. This whole time I kept looking at my boss's T60p. Last night, i held his T60 and felt how light it was again, that made me decide to just not worry about the extra pound, and get the T60 with my config. Also since I will be traveling world-wide, having IBM service centers everywhere is a HUGE plus.

So today I order it, model 2623D7U, and the spanking total came to 2800 after shipping, with some extras.

I know I will love it, and I can't do a 15inch display because it won't fit in my backpack to well.

Good luck finding your chosen one

    Tommyz

I don't know whether the default IBM warranty is global. Check before you buy.

    Good luck to you, too!
