I have a lenovo T60 laptop(with no dock) hooked up to my Samsung syncmaster 216BW lcd monitor. Right now, the max resolution that I can get, that looks passable, is 1400x1050, but I do have an option for 1600x1200. I have also got this laptop to output 1600x1200 in the past, so the x1400 should be powerful enough to output at 1680x1050.

I have updated the drivers fully, and I'm hooking the monitor up via a vga cable.

Does anyone have any ideas why I'm unable to output 1680x1050 resolution?

Isn't 1680x1050 4:3 AR? Might want to check the ATi control panel and see if it's trying to stick to 16:9 on an external display. I could be wrong; and feel free to correct me :)

1680x1050 is 16:9. But I think the resolution I'm currently outputting is a widescreen resolution anyway. I also can't find any settings in the control panel that have to do with aspect ratios.

    It's 16:10.

Try restarting your computer with the external screen connected.

Tried it, but there still isn't an option in the ati control panel or the windows settings for 1680x1050.

Are you cloning the display? IIRC, Windoze won't let you run a resolution higher than the primary display if you're cloning the desktop.. If you run a spanned desktop, you should be able to run the other display at anything you want.

    Hi,

I have the same problem with my external widescreen monitor (SM223BW).

When connecting it to my T60p (with ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200) on VGS port I cannot use 1680x1050 resolution. The image is blur and out of screen range.

I tried setting different profiles in Presentation Director with no success. The only resolution I can use it with is 1400x1050, but the image is stretched to fit the external screen size.

Did anybody find a solution to this?

    Thanks
