Could someone please give me an opinion on
T60p:Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology (Intel Core Duo Processor T7200, 2,0GHz, Intel PRO / Wireless 3945ABG),
    2048 MB,
    100GB (7200),
    15" XGA TFT (1400x1050),
    Flexview, Multi-Burner (DVD/RW CD/RW),
ATI Mobility fireGL V5250 256+256 MB graphics,
Modem, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, 3 USB, Rescue and Recovery, Client Security Solution with security chip, Active Protection System, 2.5kg, autonomy 4.3h, 3yr warranty
I can get this for 2850$ but i have to decide fast. Could use some help though, and do you think I could find something better for that money.

i got something similar (ati x1400 and 1 year warranty, everything else the same) for 1750, so i am not too impressed with the price. Do you really need the fireGL card?

Actually I rather liked the idea of a strong graphic card. But that's a big price difference. Can you tell me where you found it so cheep?

I went through the alumni/student page, check out fatwallet.com for the deal. The prices have got up a bit since then, but its still quite a bit cheaper than your build (I also forgot to mention 2 more differences, I got the n wireless and 9 cell).

Also, at this point you most likely will not be able to get it before the holidays end. So it may be worth it to wait for some sales afterwards.

Price is 2035$ keep in mind these are prices in croatia. so i can't buy from stores that do not deliver. Than theres the question of taxes 22% on the total price (price + shipping)

You may or may not need the GPU depending on what you are doing with it. a 17" notebook won't be as portable as a 15" if that's an issue.

I have the same specs except its core duo 2.0ghz with the uxga screen and I payed about $2200, so I consider that pretty steep. I'm sure you can find a better price else where.

portability is not that big of an issue. i'm going to try to buy over some friends in the states, so they can ship it like a present (no tax) =)
