Okay, I've sat my ThinkPad as my WHS but the keyboard is broken (I used to use external) and this means I can't start my laptop. Earlier in my life, I've jumpstarted my desktop, aka. shortcut the power with a screw.. Can I do anything else like this for my laptop? I really don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for a new keyboard. I've found one used keyboard for $9.99 but shipping for item will cost me $23. :D

Any ideas? I would be more then happy for any reply.

The only way I can think of is to use the fingerprint reader.. obviously this will work only if you've used it before, i.e. contains your fingerprints.

According to a suggestion given, you can unplug the cmos battery with no power connected and then replug in the power adapter, this will allow the laptop to start.

In the future you may want to use the magic packet trick.

AWESOME! This did actually work!! However, now after the power goes on, the fan spins for a short time and stop then the power go out again (you can hear the loud noice of the HDD cutting off) then power on again (automaticly) BUT, no video or anything. Have tried with 8GB (2*4) RAM, 4GB (1*4) RAM no changes.. Any ideas?

Good tip for the future. Do you know if it's described anywhere, e.g. Service and Troubleshooting Guide ?

A member named ColonelO'Neill described this.

Hum, what you are describing is probably a physical motherboard issue.

So what happened to your keyboard in the first place, did you spill liquid before?

No. The whole laptop is apart. Screen, keyboard etc. I'm using it as WHS. Keyboard have been broken for 2 years now. But the power cuts only out once.
