(Pic i took to make fun of friend who ruined his Inspiron by dropping it while plugged in and it smashed the power plug and ruined motherboard, he did not have the money to replace it)

I plan to buy a new motherboard tonight, and actually downgrade to a X3100 from NV140 since i dont game or anything serious on this laptop(light photoshop) And i want MAX battery life so this will do better so...yea...enjoy the pics while its apart ;) If there are any requests that yall want me to take close up pics of just ask!

    *Awaits Kevin's reaction*

PS: Thanks for Kdawgca for reminds me to add Coke to pic!

LoL, I dont want a girlfriend yet, first i have talk to one...let alone a cute one..haha...Its tough tho. Coolest part i think is the magnesium frame. Its light..sounds like metal when you ping on it and its pretty strong for its size, oh and my favorite.NO SHARP EDGES!(just had to add a funny thought..i dont want a girl with sharp edges..ohh my..did i just say that?)

Which is the magnesium frame? The one in P1020111.jpg? Drop it in water! See if it reacts!

Judging from the tools, I guess you have done this sort of thing before... Hard to believe how much all those little bits of scrap cost when assembled. Plus, I like the static-free tea towel - you might want to swap that out when you get the new mobo.

Actually, i didnt think about it helping with static lol...i just didnt watch to scratch up motherboard or case when i was taking it all apart since its a hard wooden table :p

This is the first time ive completely taken a laptop completely apart. I have taken my desktop apart many times, and i built it so...yea..i love taking stuff apart.

For some trivia..the motherboard with NVS140 is about $660...yea..half the price of the laptop is the motherboard. I wasnt about to pay that much tho, The integrated one was $360 so i went for it.

If only i lived near Cincinnati, Andrew might have a job for me lol

I picked up motherboard earlier today, got straight to putting it together, this time took more measures to avoid static so that is good. Finished putting it together in less than a hour. So far its running great..but at the end. I just seemed to have the urge to take the LCD cover off, to say i took everything apart, or maybe i just like seeing magnesium...who knows...one more pic for yall!

In the end! NeOn has successful replaced a Thinkpad T61 motherboard...yeeeehaaaa AND now the score is Thinkpad 1/ Mac 0..letz see someone do this with a Macbook!

My dad is actually half happy it happened as i got to take it completely apart. Though i do not have a real job yet, at least i do stuff like this to get experience in maintaining computers, etc!

Oh and mention of battery life(NVS140 vs X3100), so far it looks like it added another hour or two..i was getting almost 6 to 7 when at 94% and browsing...sexy!
