With about ~$1000 after all possible discount now, we could get Dell XPS M1530 or M1330 equipped with:
T7500 + 8600M GT(GDDR3) + 160G 7200rpm HD + WXGA
And for Thinkpad T61 (more durable?), the specs are:
T7250 + Quadro NVS 140M + 80G 5400rpm HD + WSXGA+
Has anyone take any detailed comparison between them, including the building quality (&durability)?

Most of the big discounts on the XPS M1330/M1530 are dead now.
As far as build quality go a ThinkPad has a sturdier and more rugged feel whereas the new XPS have a more plastic feel. The XPS looks far more elegant however and also offers HDMI out, a higher-end video card, and a LED backlit display which are the biggest advantages to the XPS IMO.
If you're getting a laptop to game on then I suggest something higher-end than the NVS 140M. If you're not going to be gaming then unless you're running heavily 3D intensive applications you don't need anything more than the integrated graphics. -
You should prob post this in the What Notebook Should I Buy section. You may get better answers there as this is the Lenovo forum and answers here may have an inherent Lenovo bias.
I have only seen the T61, not XPS, but XPS is supposed to be built of a magnesium type casing. T61, however, has spill resistant keyboard, hard drive shock protection, pointing stick, and other features not found on XPS.
T61 is matte screen. XPS is glossy. XPS has LED option. Big differences in screens here.
Are you a gamer? Probaly go for XPS w/ highest vid card avail. Or try T61p.
More business minded? T61 is less flashy, more professional, has features built for a business environment and MOST LIKELY can handle more abuse on the road.
Thinkpad T61 w/ T7250 or Dell XPS M1530 or M1330 in the current deals?
