How come it's impossible to find this laptop shipped with Windows 7? Just about all other workstation-type laptops from the same generation are now shipped with 7 by the resellers. I inquired from a couple of Finnish companies that the importers never ship this laptop with Windows 7. Also there was some thread reporting some problems with this model and at least some version of 7 (?). Anyone running 7 on this laptop?

I'm planning on ordering this laptop from Germany and later installing an English or Finnish Windows 7 Home Premium on it and just want to ease my mind that everything will go smooth.

I believe Windows 7 is not officially supported, which is why you can't find it.

Thanks. What does "not officially" supported mean in practice, in a nutshell? It'll still likely run smoothly?

Just get it without Windows 7 and get some OEM Licence off the Internet like eBay or the such. The official Lenovo Windows 7 drivers can be found from here.

I would expect Win 7 to have most of the drivers, but there is a member here with a W700, Crunch I think it is, who upgraded to Win 7 and there was something that did not work correctly. He found out it's not officially supported, which is how I know.

Actually, Windows 7 is quite buggy on my end too on a T61 but you just got to work it out and learn to live with some of the issues, provided its nothing too serious.

Thanks for the replies. I read some of Crunch's posts in the Windows 7 thread here, very informative.

I have the option to have the Windows 7 clean-installed where I'm ordering it from. Do you guys suggest that or just order it (It comes with both Vista and XP I think), buying a copy or licence here and doing the installing myself?

Sounds nice. Are you running another OS on the side or is the 7 sufficient? Did you do a clean-install or an upgrade?

Im trying to live with it full time but got a Vista Ultimate x64 as backup via Ultrabay. I did a clean install which is always the best way when dealing with a new OS and SSD. Goodluck with the install!

I have a t61p and Windows 7 works fine except for the ultranav, which used to be taken care of by a lenovo diver.

The Ultranav Driver installs & works well on my system but I avoided the Ultranav Utility though as I dont need any extra functions.
