Make a Wish about what you would like to see or have in your thinkpad.
its for ourselves but perhaps Designers see this topic and implement what we desire in the next series!!!!
I start with my own wishes for my thinkpad:
1-I wish my thinkpad had on/off indicator on the LID (as there is one in front!a "z" in a circle) so i would notice whether its on or off from back.
2-I wish i got less blue screens
3-i wish my screen would be a bit less grainy.im quite happy about the quality and view angles of this Samsung LCD on my thinkpad but we all sometimes envy to those shiny screens of HPs and VAIOs!(ya,i know matte and glossy are different)
SO,write you own wishes and let the others know what you wish...

Get the IdeaPad(3000 Y), it has a nice glossy screen.

The Y series is actually built better than the ThinkPad R series. -
I could get a discrete graphics card and have the life of an integrated card. Since I can't and don't game I went with integrated...
-
....would mow the lawn, and prepare dinner.
-
... had an LCD panel with more colour depth (less dithering) and range
... had a palmrest made of the same material as the lid -
seriously though......
......Perhaps they might look in to LiFePO4 batteries. -
I wish they'd keep making 14.1" SXGA+ 4:3 screens.
-
I wish my ThinkPad had Blu-Ray, HDMI port, LED screen, and always thinner, lighter, better battery life, and run cooler.
-
... had machine guns and lasers
-
...was a transformer!
-
i also have other wishes like those guys;
Having both an integrated and dedicated card on my system;
HDMI port (I wonder,as NVIDIA has documented that 570m comes with HDMI port?!)
running cooler.
THANK YOU FOR YOU FUNNY COMMENTS!!!! -
A notebook needs power, correct? The only two sources of power a notebook can have are either through AC or battery, which the lid has indicators for. That is the relevance. In order for either of those indicators to be green, the machine will have to be ON.
When your notebook is off, those indicators will not be on. When your notebook is on, at least one of the indicators will be green. That is how you can tell if your notebook is on or not by looking at the lid.
So, green light on lid = ON, no light on lid = OFF.
Understand?
As for the Z indicator in front, I personally don't know why it is there. It must be an electronic policy to include it or something.
On topic: an HDMI port would be nice. -
1:HDMI port
2:Blu-Ray Drive
Its perfect otherwise -
Well, nothing wrong in wishing HDMI, but I think this is not going to happen to Thinkpads. But Display port, this is most likely coming in this or next generation of Thinkpads...
-
... actually exists. Com'on T400!
Might as well mention it before someone else does:
... ships on time. XD -
I Wish My Thinkpad...
... had the 'Fn" and 'Ctrl' buttons switched.
edit - A useful keyboard light would be cool. How about a real wheel for the middle mouse button? -
On topic: I wish the my T61's headphone jack was on the side and not the front. It's hard to do work with the wire in the way. -
...was less heavy!!!! It's almost impossible to carry a 15,4" T61p in a messanger bag.
And also, 9 cell battery that fits flush in the Thinkpad. -
-
weight:i agree it might be a little heavy but you cant have such a robust machine with pure plastic! -

Perhaps if 6lbs is "almost impossible" for you to carry you can have your girlfriend carry it. -
my simple wish: blue LED for bluetooth, wireless and power icons. and...an S-VIDEO out.
-
-
LED screen, HDMI, consistent quality of screens.
a remote thing like they have for the m1530's would be nice too. -
-
my wishes,
1. better screens
2. was really a transformer (like Frenzy) that could do all my computer work on command -
I actually wish that they made a transparent Thinkpad, or a transparent notebook of any brand, for that matter. It'll be so cool to see all the internals working (especially the fan) as you use it. -
....made of steel.
...and the Flexview screen came back. -
I wish:
My thinkpad were a LOT lighter with the same durability.
Would support eight or sixteen gigs of memory.
Had a brighter screen for out of doors. -
1. better screen (flexview or led)
2. a more durable keyboard that don't get shiny over time after extended use
3. more usb ports -
I wish my graphics card didn't keep freezing whem I played COD4!!!
I also wish I could get a decent old school joystick to play Kick Off 2 on my Amiga Emulator -
-
'Fn' and 'Ctrl' switched for all Lenovo laptops :O
-
Mine is 570m though it plays call of duty 4 so gracefully it cant run crysis very well specially at the wsga+ native resouloution which is 1680x1050.do others with 570m exprience this too?will isntalling the Geforce drivers solve the problem? -
-
1) a on/off switch reachable when the lid is closed. useful when using external LCD monitor/keyboard/mouse,etc. no need to open the lid and turn on the machine.
2) better screen
By the way, I love my x61t keyboard. better than X31, I tried that before, it's a bit too stiff. -
- Contained more than two DDR* memory slots. Efficient utilization of board real estate is for suckers. In all seriousness, 8+ GB of memory would be a strong selling point for me.
- Turned on when I open the laptop. That's usually why I open it.
- Better speaker placement. Despite my bed's love for listening to music, I'd prefer they were directed towards me, the user.
- Fold-out keyboard with number pad. I would pay a good premium for this.
- Windows Vista SideShow support on the lid that shows e-mail, RSS feeds or application-specific information.
- Programmable LED keys when prices fall to a reasonable level.
- I wish it was a little bit taller... -
* had a much much much bigger touchpad
* had the screen located in the middle of the bezel
* had the screen fill the whole of the bezel (ie. smaller border)
* had a led screen
* had the 6 cell battery fit flush (14.1" r61)
* had the multibay battery fit properly
* had a multi-card reader
* had the home/end/pgup/pgdown keys down the rightside of the keyboard rather than at the top
* had the ctrl and fn keys swapped on the left side of the keyboard
* had a built-in webcam
* had an option/button to disable the dedicated videocard and go back to the inbuilt videocard to save on battery
apart from the touchpad i can pretty much live with everything else.. but the touchpad is stupidly, stupidly small!! -
agree with most points made by dannnnn but not with the home/end/etc key placement, its great where it is now! Count me in for the fn/ctrl key switching! BTW, some thinkpads already have a webcam. AND what's the point of using the touchpad when you have a trackpoint!?!?
My wish...is for the rumoured T400 to come out sooner because it has every feature I could ever want! (I believe it has pretty much everything dannnnn mentioned minus the key placement. -
And i wish my Thinkpad could debug its way out of the problem i have with Vista ;__; -
Had S-video out.
Had a brighter screen. -
ha! can you imagine? -
Well, yes!
With T60 or R60 you still can have these ports: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834995044
There were all kind of interesting UltraBay devices in the past including numpad:

-
Love that numpad!!
-
So IOW one'd need to carry two motherboards, one with discrete video and the other with integrated video, and swap then out on the fly to effect any sort of appreciable battery savings.
---
That all said, I'm totally pleased with my ThinkPad as-is.
About the only thing I could ever wish for would be if it were fully sentient and self-aware and were equipped with some sort of robotic arm sporting an opposable thumb. That way I could arm wrestle it while it tries to download the entire intarweb while strategically plotting some sort of quasi-diabolical global domination scenario involving monkeys. -
I can't think of, or find any, off the top of my head... But maybe someone else could help -
-
yeah, there is a sony (and i think an asus) where you can disable the secondary gpu.. so yes, you can have your cake and eat it too!!
the lenovo touchpad is pretty good, but i dont think it is any better than the hp one in my old nc6400. that said, it is certainly better than the dell xps1530 im typing this on now!
whilst having a trackpoint is great, i find i use the touchpad when i am web-browsing, primarily because of the scroll-area.
