    Hi guys and gals,

I got an unusual problem. I have a T61 for about 4 months now and never have problem with the wireless card. However, when I go to boot up right now, the wireless window is completely gone. It was working fine this morning and now, all of a sudden, no trace of wireless card left. I try to uninstall and install the latest driver from Lenovo site but to no avail. I turn the wireless switch on and off, but only my bluetooth show up, no sign of the wireless card whatsoever. I check the network adapters under Device Manager but only saw the bluetooth device and the Gigabit network, but no wireless card. I am currently running Vista Ultimate. Does anybody experience this issue before and what is the possible chance of it being an actual hardware issue (the wireless card fried or so)? Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

Not everyone here is a guy.

It sounds as if your card has failed. What is it's status in the Device Manager?
Does your event logger say anything about it.

The wireless adapter does not show up at all in Device Manager. Last event viewer log was this morning at 8:52am showing Microsoft-Windows-WLAN-AutoConfig/Operational. It doesn't say anything specific about the device (at least not where I looked at).

oh no..not a good sign. why don't you try running the "add new hardware" wizard and see if anything shows up. could this possibly be a hardware failure in this case? i wish you all the luck.

    Hi,

my wireles and lan cards disapeared also.

I did a windows system restore to the day before the cards were gone.
    They came back!

    Good Luck

Yes, I tried Fn+F5 but only bluetooth show up. It was working perfectly the morning yesterday and now just seemed to go MIA. I am going to try to do a system restore and see how that goes, but right now, it look pretty grim.

Thanks Agoothelf for the advice; it apparently work now with system restore. I guess something must went wrong (Still couldn't tie the pieces though). It's very weird though that it completely disappear without any trace whatsoever.

    Hi thietlong,

i agree with you, that the cause of the problem is unknown.

I think, it´s a combination of using access connection and it´s user profiles and hibernate/sleep at different times.

Anyway, till now, it works. ;).
