can someone please confirm whether Engadget really said Lenovo gave that info?
specifically the Sandisk X100 model number quote.
i can't find it to confirm at all.
thx in advance.

I think that article clears most of these questions up. -

"Although residents are supposed to pay the levy when they file their income tax returns, few do."
Looks like a lot of people in NJ are evading taxes. So to correct my previous statement: The EPP/BN pricing is the cheapest way to go as long as you aren't a criminal. But if you're a criminal, you might as well steal the entire laptop, right? -

It's not looking good for DIY memory/SSD upgrades on the X1C... According to several posts on lenovo forums, memory is soldered to the motherboard and SSD, while removable and technically not proprietary, is not a standard form factor... There's speculation that they must be working on an 8GB i7 model but it's not currently available and apparently 4GB i7 is not "field upgradable"...

It appears as though the WWAN spot can be replaced by a SSD, albeit by a half mini PCI-E SSD for which there are no large storage options.

Ordered an I5/8GB/256 X1C yesterday... Can't freakin wait! As the 3G radio is there whether I wanted it or not.... I started looking at the Lenovo Mobile Access Service. I see it's available in the U.S. as well as a number of other countries... Though not Canada. I'm wondering if anyone has used this service and how it's been? As well, have any other Canadians out there heard when this service might be available in Canada?

With the release of Windows 8 around the corner is there any point waiting for a touch-enabled laptop?

any word on UK pricing and availability? is there a student discount available in the UK?
wondering whether i should purchase it in the U.S. and have a friend bring it over to me in London, or just buy it in the UK? -

I changed my order to 8GB, anyone else having trouble viewing order status? -
So what price are people paying for this? I am guessing with all the talk of the EPP and some other discount, it's less than the $1250 it's listed at on lenovo.com right now?
I know how to get EPP, but what other discount codes are there? -

(as far as i can tell, Visa Signature and Barnes & Noble Gold are identically priced. Am I correct? Thx)
via Barnes & Noble:
i5 3427U (required to choose this particular i5 over 3317 if we wanted 8GB of RAM)
256GB SSD
3-Year Onsite/Accidental Damage/Priority Tech Support
Total Before Taxes $1,751
PS: the Visa Signature shopping page's link to Lenovo is down today! It was working fine yesterday but its pricing appears to be very similar to the Barnes & Noble pricing. Anyone else able to get to the Visa Lenovo webpage? Thx. -

Is it just me or is the Zenbook growing on anyone else? I eagerly awaited this notebooks release and while I was very excited at its release... I find myself pragmatically regressing to UX32VD. I still love what Lenovo has done with X1C, but I think the Asus has some major pluses... Am I alone?

I've seen it and I believe it too! Those two upgrades you mentioned are very important ones. I can't recall the last computer that I owned in which I didn't upgrade both the ram and HDD at some point. I already have a 512GB Samsung 830... and regular 8GB ram is cheap... The suspect the typing experience will leave something to be desired, but I'm not sure on that one because I haven't used the precision keyboard... Also the older Zenbook keyboard supposedly has been improved... NOT TO MENTION 1200 bucks OTD...

I just got off the phone with a Lenovo phone rep.
he insists on telling me that between the 3 available proscessor on the x1c, that the same intel 4000 graphics portion will perform DIFFERENTLY depending on the speed of the processor!!
that is odd, right?
he said that he is certain, according to the Intel presentation he was at, that as the processor goes to a higher speed, the Intel 4000 graphics will perform BETTER.
is that possible? is it hogwash/a lie?
i've always thought once it is known to be Intel 4000 graphics, the video/graphics performance is essentially all set and fixed. minor changes in processor speed won't do that much.
we then looked at passmark's benchmarking of the three available processors:
PassMark Intel vs AMD CPU Benchmarks - High End
there are some differences but i can't tell if the speed differences are at all significant, or the 4gb of RAM vs 8gb of RAM is more significant.
what do you think please?
at this point, the decision boils down very simply to:
i5 with 8GB of RAM
or
i7 with 4GB of RAM
I'm getting the 256gb SSD in any case.
Thx in advance. -

It's weird to think that the normal SSDs that they have been pushing for the past couple years might already become obsolete given how companies are going to custom drives. Prices are finally coming down but you cant put it anywhere.

DualMonitors
I went to the Intel site to compare the two offered i5 processors and there was a slight difference in what was called Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency. -
It is just SO WEIRD for Lenovo to not combine the 8gb and i7....not to mention that the RAM is only at 1333mhz for such a "leading edge" laptop!
It's just crazy....but then they are probably targeting the Asus Zenbook Prime and Mac Book Air users that just go with the bare-minimum: i5/128/4gb....if that's the case then Lenovo may have gotten it right. -
sorry to differ. i just checked on Intel's site, and this is what i found (identical for both the i5 and i7):
i5 3427U i7 3667U
Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.15 GHz 1.15 GHz
Compare Intel® Products
as a result, i am unable to ascertain whether or not there could be any real life differences in VIDEO/graphics between the i5 and the i7.
of course, this question pertains to choosing the i5 with the 8gb RAM versus choosing the i7 with the 4gb RAM.
i would have expected the Intel 4000 graphics module to be performing exactly the same for all real life purposes whether we were talking about the i5 or the i7, but this phone rep said otherwise.
confusing!
btw, feel free to compare the benchmarked processor speeds as well between the processors:
PassMark Intel vs AMD CPU Benchmarks - High End
While there are differences, whether the bit of differences are noticeable at all in real life usage is the real point. Who would know the answer to this riddle?!?
-
DualMonitors
I was comparing the i5 processors and they were different so it seemed logical the graphics could be slightly different. I never compared the i7 to either of the i5s. -
i wanted the 8gb RAM so i would have had to get the higher of the 2 i5 options.
that said, there's also the choice to forgo the 8gb of RAM and go for the i7 but necessarily only have 4gb of RAM.
that was what i was trying to say. -
now both coupon can stack and checkout without problem on barnes on noble site
-
which TWO coupons stack, please?
thx in advance. i'm ready to order, but need to know which.
over time, it got confusing. sorry and thx!
i did it on the Barnes and Nobles link, and it does not have any places to ADD a coupon at the end. the only "eCoupon Code" is the code that by virtue of being IN the Barnes and Noble Lenovo pages, you get that automatically.
how would you add a second code? i don't get it. -
Kind of odd that Samsung is one of the few NOT doing that.
As you know, the Series 9 uses a standard mSATA card, which you can buy off the shelf from any provider who makes one. -
you get the second one by sign up for subscriber email

Happy I got one of the 900X3B units with their top-tier 830 in it!
Glad you like the Zenbook and its screen.
If you don't need 1080p in a 13" screen the Series 9 is a lot brighter, sharper, and more accurate with no backlight bleed and viewing angles that are just as good as IPS, in my opinion.
Yes, I have seen 2 Zenbook Primes, including the UX32VD and the SS9 side-by-side.
Yes, I agree, the dream notebook is the one with a great:
Screen, keyboard, trackpad, and fast (or replaceable with fast) SSD.
Unfortunately, it does not exist.
Kind of stunning that today, with technology where it is, that it does not exist.
OT for one moment, even in a non-ultrabook, I don't think it exists? -
