At least the x120e is back on sale. I wish they would offer an Intel variant instead of just AMD in the USA. (Edge 11 everywhere else.)

An Intel variant would be nice, but the X120e chassis seems much better than the X121e and Edge 11 at least.

It is possible that Lenovo doesn't want the x121 cannibalizing sales of the more expensive models.

Well, seeing as the starting price of the X121e with i3 is $599 and the X220 with i3 can be had for as little as $650, it may even be more of the reverse: the X121e would be more successful at a lower price point, with more distinction from the X220.

The X121e (Pentium 957 and Core i3-2357M) can be configured with a fingerprint reader, Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250, 128GB SSD, 8GB RAM, etc. So they won't sell the X121e in the US which looks a lot better than the X120e but they have no problem selling the X1 here. I think they have their priorities reversed!

x121e wouldn't make sense IMO. The x120e is cheap, and that is it's silver bullet. Much better than any prosumer laptop for that money, the x120e wins for value. The pricing of the x121e doesn't make sense as an x220i base can be had as low as 600, and that satisfies the hardcore ThinkPad fans.

I don't think that the x121e is appreciably more expensive than the x120e.

While it's only a belief, i believe that the x121e will be available in the U.S. at some point. The person who tweeted might not be a x121e project manager. We shall see, and let's see which chassis the put the E-450 in, come this September.

Due to Lenovo's mistake of no OS option for the x120e, people had them for sub 350 mark. You can find them around 450-500 loaded with a 320 GB 7200 rpm drive, 4 GB RAM and Windows 7 Professional. x121e starts at 599, and only gets higher.

The pricing point for the X121e is a lot higher than I expected. Add a little more and you're getting near X220 pricing range. I certainly wouldn't pay that much.

I was hoping the x120e would drop a bit so I could scoop it up.. Unfortunately I'm in the market for something right now.. I just can't get comfortable buying something this long into it's life without a price correction. Especially knowing the replacement while likely not coming to NA anytime soon is out there..

They won't drop the price considering the fact that it's selling like hotcakes.

Your best bet would be to look for an online coupon code to use.

The price of the X121E in Australia is AU$599.00 which equates to around US$660.00.

So Lenovo would have to sell the X121E a lot cheaper in USA to compete with X220.

The X121e is now available here (UK) starting at £370, next to the X220 at £740. So it starts off quite a bit cheaper, or the X220 starts off quite a bit more expensive depending on how you look at it.

A very good point. If it were sold in the US you can bet there would be the usual discounting so as not to cannibalize sales from the X220.

Anyone know of a service that can order these for you from Japan? You can even configure it with an English keyboard and English version of Windows 7. With the Intel versions you can add the fingerprint reader, 6250+WiMAX, SSD, etc.

damn... Lenovo is releasing too many different thinkpads, they are really overlapping over each other and making it too difficult to choose for the customer.

What's better about the X120e chassis over the X121e?

X120e chassis does a better job cooling, as the i3 is a cooler running chip than the E-350 I think, and an i3 X121e runs warmer than the E-350 X120e.

X120e chassis screen opens closer to 180° than the X121e chassis.

    X120e chassis looks better imho

I have an x100e which I think uses the same chassis as the x120e and a x121e. holding them both and using them both the x121e is a definite improvement over the x100e (from an ergonomic perspective)

What about ergonomics is better? I'm interested in hearing since looking at pictures and reading about it, nothing is better.

Do note the X100e's Turion Neo/Athlon Neo is an extremely hot and power hungry piece of hardware for something called "low voltage."

Just using it on your lap, holding it, opening it and in general it feels better - hard to quantify I guess but if I had a choice between the two chassis the x121e would win every time.

I was only taking about the chassis I know how hot the x100e gets :) I can't compare the cooling with the x120e but the x121e does not get very hot even after gaming (needless to say its infinitely better than than the x100e)

my opinion x120e looks more thinkpad. x121e looks more edge.
