I just purchased a refurbished Lenovo X140e laptop Black Friday special from the Lenovo outlet. This is the one with the AMD A4-5000 APU. It uses PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600MHz SODIMM memory. Since this machine is shipping with only 2GB RAM, I bought on of these:
Samsung DDR3-1600 SODIMM 8GB/1Gx64 CL11 Samsung Chip Notebook Memory
I am hoping this is good memory and will work in this laptop. Of course, it would have been better to come here first and ask before purchasing, but I need the memory shipped in here so I can get this notebook up and running as fast as possible. Now, I am pretty sure it will work, but I'd like to check with you Lenovo experts too. I am hoping the 2GB is taking up only one slot (not 2) and I can have 10GB total memory in the machine.
This will be my first Lenovo anything. Also, I got the one with the a/b/g/n/Wireless BT Combo (2x2 ABGN & BT 4.0) wifi and Radeon 8330 graphics. Also I'm planning on dual booting Windows 8.1 and Linux Mint 17.1 with it.
So what do you guys think? Good machine? Did I purchase the right memory?

The RAM should be fine, theoretically at least. There's always going to be a small risk of an incompatibility between a particular motherboard and particular brand and model of memory. But it's really unlikely, and even more so with Samsung, since they supply a lot of OEMs (including Lenovo, I'm sure).
