I have been using Apple devices since 2009, and have always bought AppleCare, which saved my bacon twice ($800 motherboard replacement, $600 screen replacement, and once they replaced the entire outer casing cause I had a ding - made the laptop look brand new).

I just bought the X1C, with a 3-year depot warranty. I got a good deal on it, and am now considering buying a warranty upgrade for peace of mind. Before I do that, though, I'd like to ask you guys a few questions.

I'm considering the 3 Year NBD + Accidental Damage + Premier Support

    1. I will be traveling between the US and Canada, spending a few months each year in either country. Will the NBD warranty cover both countries? I bought the laptop from Lenovo USA.

    2. Has anyone had a good/bad experience with either the Accidental Damage coverage or the Premier Support?

    3. Is Accidental Damage/Premier Support comparable to AppleCare? I mean, I know I can't walk into a Lenovo store, but can I call Lenovo and have my laptop fixed within a week, with zero cost?

The cost seems reasonable to me (USD 249) if the warranty matches my experience with Apple Care. I'd appreciate any input.

@267Bottas Thinkpad X1 Carbon is a business-class device unlike premium consumer Apple devices, meaning it should be noticeably more durable. Chances that you will need it repaired are much lower than with Apple.

I personally prefer to fix Thinkpads myself - parts are usually easy to source and affordable, and detailed service manuals are provided on Lenovo website.

I have fixed my Thinkpad T42 back in the day (almost every part including replacing the LCD), and I could do it again in a pinch, but now I'd rather pay a little more and have quality support - the key word here is quality. I found AppleCare to be worth it, and I'm not sure if Lenovo's warranty upgrades are any better than the standard Depot service.

That's why I'm looking for feedback from people who have experienced Premier Support and can tell me what it's like. Lenovo's marketing material is nice and all, but I'd love to hear actual user feedback
