Hi,
Anyone had experiences with getting another hard drive to work in X200 ultrabase? I get BSODs almost every time I try to start windows (tried different hard drives).
Sometimes it does enter Windows (through Boot Logging) and then it works fine, however it most often I get Blue Screen of Death. I didn't try reinstalling Windows, as I am trying to leave that as a last resort.![]()
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Is it a Lenovo adapter?

If you are trying to boot a hard drive from the Ultrabase, enter the BIOS boot menu by pressing F12 at the Splash Screen (before the OS starts to load) and choose the drive from there.
You have to be careful when you have two hard drives installed that you don't try to boot the drive with a different drive letter than the OS was installed on. Whichever drive you decide to boot using the BIOS boot menu (F12) will become the C:\ Drive, so unless your OS was installed to the D:\ Drive you should not have a problem.
Check that your BIOS is up-to-date. Some BIOS updates address boot issues.
EDIT: Another problem that can occur is if the problem hard drive had the OS installed originally in a different computer. The hard drive geometry could be wrong for the computer you are trying the hard drive in. AFAIK, the only way to really fix hard drive geometry issues is to zero out the hard drive (so-called low level format) and start over with the hard drive in the main slot of the machine it will be used on when installing the OS. When cloning you always want the target drive in the computer that will be using it and the source drive in the external usb enclosure or device bay to avoid drive geometry errors.

Thanks for the replies.
@ZaZ
The caddy is some cheap one from eBay. I thought anything will work since I was guessing its just a piece of plastic with a SATA connector.
@GomJabbar
Not trying to boot from the hard drive (that works), just have it on as another drive in Windows. Also, seems to boot fine if I disable the hard drive, then boot, then reenable it in Windows.
