    Hi all,

Believe me I searched and searched and couldn't find an answer.

I'd like to upgrade the memory on my X200, which has 3GB now with Win7 64-bit.

I have upgraded to 100GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD and it is truly amazing!

    I have a feeling 3GB isn't quite enough for the 64-bit install of Win7.

    My memory install now is 1 x 1GB and 1 x 2GB. I'm hoping I can drop the 1GB and add 4GB for a total of 6GB.

Does the memory upgrade have (or should) be matched pairs? I have VT turned off in the BIOS.

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

I don't know if it applies, but for the X220 my two sticks of ram are capped at different speeds and it still works fine. Hope it helps.

As long as they have the same timing, there shouldn't be any problems.

    thanks both!

EZjijy - are you referring to CAS settings? I believe my memory is running at CL7. Is that all I should be looking to match?

They dont have to be matched, and that applies to both speed/timings AND capacity. Nothing much to say about difference in capacity. As far as speed and timings go, the machine will simply run at the speed and timing of the lower spec'd stick. This is all automatic a well, no settings to input or anything.

As for mine, I ordered it with 1x2gb and added 1x4gb for 6gb total. Works fine.
