    Hi,

The problem I have is minor but annoying. Left mouse button on my X200s keyboard squeaks every time I press it and that's very annoying - it's definately mechanical problem with that.

Now, I'm still under warranty with this laptop till 2012. If I call lenovo UK support, would they send me replacement keyboard without sending laptop to them?

Other question, are batteries under warranty as well? I mean, I've got 9 cell and it shows 80% of it's original capacity at the moment.

I'm totally green if it comes to warranty on thinkpads as I never had to make use of any warranty in the past :)

    Thanks for help.

Yes, they will send you the keyboard as long as you can convince them that there is something faulty with it. It is far more hassle for them to take it in to replace something simple like the keyboard.

As far as I'm aware, the battery is only covered for physical parts and not chemical deterioration. Try calling in and asking. Though, 80% after around 2 ~ 3 years (the X220s was released something like 3 years ago, right?) is pretty good in my opinion.

kirayamato26 - thanks for answer, will try to contact lenovo uk and see what happens. Keyboard works ok, but you know, pressing this button is just so noisy.

As for the battery, laptops is from August 2009 and I do not use battery unless I have to :) It still holds 5-6 hours under Linux (I do not have windows). As far as I know, it should be a couple hours more on that 9 cell battery.

battery is only covered for one year. Even when you don't use your battery, it will still chemically degrade.

no, I did not have to send the old one back - I just put it back to the new one's box and will keep for the future :)

I am in the UK and have used UK Lenovo service. I've got no clue how would that work if you're from italy and have US thinkpad.

I believe Lenovo's warranty states that you have to send the old one back within 30 days, or they'll charge you for the new one. I'd call in just to reconfirm.

kirayamato26 - is that true? I looked at that box they sent me, and there are 2 documents attached to it, but on none of them there is any address where to send it to or any information if I have to do it.

No one told me to do so over the phone.

EDIT 30/12/11 - All in all, nothing came through, Lenovo never requested to send the old keyboard back to them. Just for your information :)

    EDIT:

That's what Lenovo warranty says about returning old parts to them:
"Lenovo will ship CRUs to you for you to install, Tier 1 CRUs are easy to install whereas Tier 2 CRUs require some technical skill and tools. CRU
information and replacement instructions are shipped with your Machine and are available from Lenovo at any time on your request. You may
request that a Service Provider install CRUs, at no additional charge, under the type of warranty service designated for your Machine. Lenovo
specifies in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU whether a defective CRU must be returned. When return is required, 1) return
instructions and a container are shipped with the replacement CRU, and 2) you may be charged for the replacement CRU if Lenovo does not
receive the defective CRU within 30 days of your receipt of the replacement."
