Hey guys, I just got my x201 last week. ;)

Quite happy so far, except for one thing...
I moved from a toshiba laptop where clicking the left and right click simultaneously will turn in to the middle click...and I use that very often for opening/closing tabs.

The x201 doesn't do the same thing. Is there anyway I can configure it to do that?
I tired going into the thinkpad configure buttons application, but there is no option to do that.

If you go into mouse settings under the ultranav panel you will see a box for the behavior of the middle button. It gives the options of scrolling, magnifying, or neither. If you select neither, then the middle button will function as a normal third click on a standard mouse. Other than this, there is no way to have a middle click with the standard Thinkpad trackpoint drivers.

Does it make any difference if I have a touchpad (and 2 more left/right click under the touchpad)?

No, it doesn't make a difference. Any reason why you don't want to just choose neither in the trackpoint properties?

Well if you choose neither you lose scrolling...something that is just as useful as middle clicks.

There are 3 ways to solve this problem though:
    1. Download a button binding program (I like Autohotkey) and configure leftclick+rightclick to be a middle click. It would a bit complicated and you might want to go to their forums because the script would need to be something like: Left click if left button is pressed, but middle click if right button is pressed within a certain X amount of time and then vice versa.

    2. There is a thread on the forum where someone took synaptics API and wrote a utility that lets you scroll and middle click based on how long you hold down the middle button.

    3. There is a also thread where I wrote a Autohotkey script to give you both middle click on tap and scroll on hold.

Actually...i don't mind losing the trackpoint scrolling since I don't use the track point...but it feels more natural for me to press the button under the touchpad and than using the buttons on top of it

i will probably need to get used to it i guess...

I think you should try and use the trackpoint...scrolling and general use with it on an ultraportable is quite rewarding. The trackpad is quite small on the x series isn't it.
