    Thinkpad X220 - Ram Upgrade Options

    Finally decided to get a Thinkpad X220 and one of the deals on the customizing site was a free upgrade to 4 gig of ram(1 stick). I want to buy another stick of 4 gig ram off of newegg but am kinda lost. Could someone post me the cheapest yet reliable ram that would be compatible with this computer? Thanks for your help!

    204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600.

    Get the least expensive deal you can find. Most brands (Kingston, Crucial, Samsung, G.Skill ...) are equivalent these days.

    As stated above, RAM is RAM is RAM. They all come from few sources (Samsung, Micron (Crucial), Hynix, Qiomoda). Just select one with a lifetime warranty. Make sure obviously your machine POSTs and passes several rounds of memtest (to ensure the RAM is good), you should be good.

    And there is no point in buying 1866 RAM, the i3/i5 on the X220 only natively support 1333 RAM. Most of the time 1600 is the same price as 1333.

    Thanks for the help guys! I hope the shipping doesn't take too long. Ordered today and said it was going to ship on 6/27/11. Dental school starts on the 25th :(
