I have had this X40 for about 2.5 years, I mainly used it as a networked notebook when I set up a Server Domain for study. Since I began to vitualize my Domains, I no longer use this notebook. I put it on auction and when I went to reinstall the OS, I got this bios error 0271 - Check Date and Time Settings, so I adjust the time and date and get the same error at boot up repeatedly. I have done the search for this problem, CMOS battery dead/CMOS chip dead. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated.

CMOS batteries are relatively cheap to obtain, look on sites such as eBay for some X40 CMOS. For fitting instructions you may want to have a look at the X40 Maintenance Manual, see Page 90 for details (CMOS is called a Backup Battery in the guide).
