    Hello

I just saw the Thinkpad X60 with Core 2 Duo T7200 2Ghz 4MB Model 1709H3U and 1709H6U. I can't customize the first one, it doesn't allow for choosing the hard disk at all. Does it work for anyone?

    Thanks,
    Zicco.

I can customize it, but not much and not the hard disk.
Also you're stuck with the intel 3945 instead of Atheros.
Too bad because I've read many ppl have had dropping connections with intel 3945 on th x60s.

    Lenovo also now has the 1.83ghz x60s, and a 2.0 ghz X60. But $3550 for that T2500 x60? Yikes!

Actually for me the 3945 is ok, a bit slow sometimes, but nothing like disconnecting. I wish I could get an Atheros though. :(

I should have mentioned, I saw this via the ESPP site. I looked again on the non-employee store, and couldn't find the Core2 Duo. Sorry for the confusion.

For 170997U, the C2D is exact same cost on lenovo as the corresponding Core Duo. Besideds the different processor, the only other difference in the specs is that the C2D one has the Intel 3945 instead of Atheros. Alas, the 3945 has given some ppl a lot of grief.

So the C2D processors are no more expensive then the CD processors?

Exactly the same price. However some manufactures might wanna get rid of all CDs so they might rebate them but intel sell C2Ds at the same price as CDs.

Thats why it's so frustrating that Lenovo is so slow and upgrading.
Slightly (imperceptible) cooler, faster and 64 bit support at the same price...
    Only pros with it.

How are they going to move the older stock CD machines? What are the incentives if they are not priced lower?

Or the C2Ds are a marketing hoax???

I too would like to hear what happens with the older stock CD machines, anyone got any ideas? Also what is the timeline for x60s with C2D?

I called Lenovo Canada .. and since its not on the website.. We're unable to order it. In regards to price cuts on Core Duo's.. it was a no.

They'll move them. A majority of buyers are probably not well-informed about what they're buying.

I read where INTEL priced the Duo 2's that same as the Duo, so manufacturers could offer them without raising their selling prices. But, like tjoff said, manufacturers will be offering discounts on the Duo's to get rid of them. Lenovo's website had a $300 rebate that ended Oct 18th on the Thinkpads that now offer the Duo 2. I almost bit, but this laptop will have to last me 4 years so I want to start off with the best...at least for a few months. I read where Duo 4 is on the near horizon already!
