The EPP site is only offering the X60s with XP Pro for now. If I buy that and get the Vista upgrade CD, will I still be able to do a recovery/format (one button format) back to Vista, or will have recover back to XP and have to reinstall Vista again?

I am not sure what the upgrade CD's include whether or not a full version or not. I would think that you would have to install XP again, then Vista.

you will have to prove that you own a XP, 98, Win2k, nt etc version of windows...With the XP Upgrade it merely asks you to insert the program disk for one of these versions of windows to "prove" that you own a previous version of windows...Not sure if its the same with Vista Upgrade.

I believe if you call them you can get Vista with EPP. The rule with Lenovo is always call to make your order.

If it's not in their EPP page, then it's considered a custom order. I only save about $100 with a custom order with EPP discount.

You sure about that? When I bought through EPP if it was something I could base fairly closely off of a pre-config, I would still save a considerable amount of money.

Maybe it's just for certain models. I'll give them a call now and find out.
