Are thinkpads able to play movies and music decently?
Im lookin at a T410 Model. I like the business feel of it but I'm wondering if the hi def movie experience is legit. How would FIFA manager do on it?

Ive always wanted a thinkpad but no HDMI outs is a huge negative

In terms of performance, should handle 1080p just fine. Gaming will require some sort of graphics card. One thing to note is the rather poor screen used on the T410. Viewing angle and contrast are subpar. If you're not picky, however, might be a nice choice.

Yeah, newer 3D games need dedicated graphics. On the other hand, games like Football Manager that rely mostly on CPU would probably work fine.

the Intel HD graphics card used on the i3, i5 and i7 dual core mobile processors can all handle 1080p movies just fine.

Displayport on the T410 can be converted to hdmi relatively easily.

How subpar is it lol? Im not really picky. Reading the forum's opinions on the thinkpads really convinced me this is the way to go lol

What would I need to do to convert it? Will the performance/look of it be hindered any?

you would need a converter cable (costs between 10 to 30 USD).

The T410 screen is usable, it is not that accurate for photoshop work.

pretty good, nothing wrong with. Your spec can do all these.

if you want to game, get a DIY Vidock and ATI 5770 or Nividia 460 graphics card, and you are good to go.

NP, how much did it knock off? Just curious. You could use the savings to upgrade the processor or just save a few bucks ;)

It seems like the student discount gives you a diff selection of thinkpads that are barely costumizable lol I think the coupon code for 10% off the reg price is prolly an even better deal

It actually just gives you some recommendations. Just click on one of the majors listed and hit shop now. Then just highlight products on the bar up at the top and go to the T series.

The student discount should be stackable with the 10% code.

Where did you find the 10% code? I guess not all of them stack, I was able to stack the black friday code so I figured they all did.

would you advise choosing a thinkpad edge 14 over a t410? mainly due to media capabilities?

Thinkpad Edge 14 is more of a pro-consumer grade laptop, while the T410 is a business/professional grade laptop. Why are you thinking about the Edge 14? is it a cost factor?

yup, mostly the cost factor. About 100 dollars to be exact. Is the T410 worth the extra 100? very similar specs
