I've been waiting for Sandy Bridge and I know most Thinkpads are going to cost about $2000. I also know Thinkpads at that price are ridiculously expensive, so I'm planning to wait a little longer until the prices drop. How long should I expect to wait until Thinkpads are reasonably priced? Reasonable priced is about 30% off of retail, with no ecoupons added. Basically what I'm asking is when's the best time to buy from Lenovo, other than right now :)?

Sorry for the dumb question I never bought from Lenovo.

i think that you'll likely have to wait until Q3 to see the most attractive deals on pricing for the new SB models.

I can wait 3 to 4 months, but not till Q3 can anyone confirm this? I might just pull the trigger on the t410s now.

Well I'm asking to base it off of previous experience from Lenovo.

I think the general arc is slowly downward, but I've seen it go differently. A few months after the X60 was released it hit $800 for the base configuration and it never went lower until the X200 was released.

Now there is an intelligent answer...... Area you speaking for all of "us"?

    Hello graycolor,

it depends as to how long you are willing to wait. For example, Lenovo's ‘End of Summer’ sale promotions have always been some of the best. These price cuts usually take place towards the end of August. On average, you'll see savings somewhere around 27%.

To wait a bit is also a good thing. For example: Lenovo is about to start using the new Intel Soda Creek 25nm NAND-based Solid-State Drive (310 Series). These new ultra-small solid-state drives are one-eighth the size of a regular 2.5 inch drive and weigh only about 10 grams.

You'll wait forever since when summer comes, Ivy Bridge will be around the corner and you'll want that... best time to buy is when you need it. Don't expect new technology to be discounted much.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to pull the trigger next week. School is starting soon and I don't think I could take the HP for another 6 months.

I could still order even after the new Thinkpads are introduced right?

Yes, as long as inventory lasts, although X201 models will be available in the Outlet for some time.

Prices often fall a lot on older models when new models are released. Like ... right now. It's generally when they want to get rid of the laptop they'll give it to you at a lower price. For example, in the past few months there seem to be things like that with Thinkpads X200 and X200t.

If you're going to be waiting for 30% off new Sandy Bridge laptops? ROFL... good luck and have fun with that ^^
