Got a keyboard that randomly stops working.. There was no spilled water or anything, the keyboard connector is stable..

Log into windows and usually a few minutes later the keyboard stops working.. an external one works fine, of course.

You guys heard of an issue like this? Any way I can fix it? Keyboard looks fine in device manager.

    XP Pro SP3

    Thanks

I hate to say this but it sounds like a deep systems problem that they will want to fix by a board replacement.

Could try a new keyboard and if it ain't the problem you can always sell it. It'll be a lot less than a new board. You could also try a Linux LiveCD. That'll tell you whether it's a Windows or a hardware issue.

Another Vista installation (mock) would tell him.

Live booting would be SOOOO much easier than trying to reinstall vista first...

You can live boot off of a flash drive too, etc.

Sounds like a motherboard interface issue. It could be the connector from the keyboard to the motherboard that was faulty, or the motherboard itself.

    Your options are:

    a. Try using a replacement T60 Keyboard (that works) and see if the issue persists.
    b. Replace the motherboard.
    c. Use an external keyboard.
