    Hi

I am stuck on deciding between buying a T61 TP with a 14.1"(4:3). I understand that the 4:3 has lesser brightness and does not sport a media card reader. However, in terms of only the screen i.e, its viewing angles, light leakage issues etc, I wanted to know which one stands out to be better.

Both the systems I am trying to configure have the same configs and cost almost the same (+/- $30).

    Thank You
    :)

They're probably about the same. Light leakage varies from one machine to the next. It's sort of a crap shoot.

So, apart from the light leakage issue, which of these notebooks would be recommended (both in terms of screen quality and usage) - I am basically looking for a machine to support my programming with lot of database and resource intensive application and also for some media(movies and play songs) and make presentations.

screens are a crapshoot indeed. The 15.4" screens have better brightness and contrast ratio on paper, but not by much.

For me it was a portability issue. 15.4" widescreen modesl are too big IMO to be easily portable. I went for a 14" 4:3 model... just over 5lb and significantly smaller footprint.

For movies, a widescreen would probably be better. But why not a 14" widescreen? The WXGA+ screens should be available again soon.

I understand that a 15.4" (LG WSXGA+) screen is comparatively brighter than a T60 Flexview as it can be seen from this image

However, a comparison of the color reproduction shows the 15.4" to be kind of dull:

I too prefer a laptop that is small and portable and am pretty much inclined towards the 4:3 model. However, I am in a dilemma considering certain additional features that the 15.4" offers and also some of the problems (like the screen comparison above)

hey look if you want to be a original then just get a 14.1inches because that is what the thinkpad was first introduced
