The off centered screen on my X31 never bothered me.
-
I really don't notice that the screen is off center. I stopped noticing this about 5 minutes after I got my T61.

I think (based on these T61P pictures ) T61P;s screen is not offset

I noticed it, but it didn't bug me or keep me from ordering a T61.
-
But then again who knows? -
Yeah they're not showing a whole lot of straight up face up shots of any of these.
-
I think the thick part on bezel is thiner then the bezel on the 14.1 T61. I'll measure mine when I get it and someone can post their measurements of the 14.1 version. Both the T61p and the T61 15.4 should be the same.
-
Here's the measurements:
Left bezel = 11/16"
Right bezel = 5/16" -

Does Lenovo Offer Any T61 15.4" Models Without Offset Bezels/Screen? Hoping For a T61p Model!
Some Folks (Me Included) May Have OCD's... Needing Symmetry!
Where are the pictures? Lenovo seems to be hesitant to reveal the offset… The few existing photos are all at angles or shading that disguises the offset. Hmmm -
They're sneaky like that.
Also, if you watch the T series video, not only do they kepe the perspective askew, but watch the logos as the video progresses. Starts with "IBM" logos only, then slowly start interchanging them with "thinkpad", then end up with Lenovo "Thinkpad" logo tagged machines only. All part of our subliminal transition acceptance routine (Lenovo STAR). Obey your thirst!
Seriously though. Look around at other instruments, tools, electronics, gauges in your car and appliances, etc. Notice how many of those have asymmetric qualities you don't think about, that you look at all the time. My point is, this all boils down to the fact that it hasn't been done before (to this extent). There's never been a reason to before, so might has well make it centered, but done with a very good reason now. After a while, it will look normal to everyone. Actually when you turn it on, it looks normal.
The display itself otoh...
 -
at first you notice it but then it just means nothing after that -
Glad to hear people's opinions are changed.
Was worried it would bother me (I'm anal about build quality, gaps, etc). But since people have gotten theirs glad to hear it doesn't matter!
Hopefully my eye will do the same.
Ordering tonight! -

What I don't like about the off-center screen is - on mine the right bezel is loose, not sure if this is the same for everyone - eventually after plenty of use because it is thin and nothing really holding it, it will probably come away.
-
Doesn't bother me at all
I do wish the track pad was wider though, I can't select stuff easiliy I always hit the edge. -
Doesn't bother me at all.
-
Didn't bother me in photos and after using one, still doesn't bother me. I forgot about it until I read this thread.
Some people are just really too nitpicky for their own good. You're like the losers who complain about True aspect ratio movies having "black bars" -
Do any of you use your Laptop in public? If so, what do you say when people ask you "why is the screen off center?".
I have been asked twice now in two weeks with my laptop, it is annoying telling people the why when the why is not really that good of an answer.
I'm trying to make up something good to tell people. Something like "oh that's because on that side Lenovo puts the supper dupper long an powerfull... antenna?"
Please... other manufacturers have all the same antenas and they can design a laptop with the screen centered; why can't Lenovo?
It doesn't bother me, but it bothers me explaining the why. -
-
Yeah, I think it's really ugly~! I prefer symmetric screen.
-
Who cares really?, as long as the laptop works.
Some people -
If it bothers you that much, get some black plastic and glue it onto the other side.
