I used to get the typical windows 7 blue screen with sound upon booting, but after I upgraded to an msata ssd, I no longer get the windows 7 blue screen sequence but instead just get a black thinkpad wallpaper that says "windows professional" on it before the system goes to my desktop.

Not a big deal, but why is this happening? I sort of liked the windows 7 blue screen with jingle haha...

Actually, there are usually 3 "splash screens" before you see your desktop: (1) the BIOS screen with Lenovo and Intel logos; (2) the black-background animated Windows boot screen that says "Windows whatever" below the Windows logo; (3) the blue Windows login screen with sound.

You can both change the look of the BIOS screen and optimize BIOS POST to make it extremely quick. Also, you can opt to boot Windows without the animation (tick option "No GUI boot" under the Boot tab in msconfig.exe). Finally, you can change the Windows login screen with any image, typically the ThinkPad wallpaper (search "Windows 7 OEMBackground"), or skip the login screen altogether (search "Windows 7 no login screen"). By the way, the login sound and various other sounds may be either changed or turned off.

Initially with the SSD, Windows initialization was completed when the Windows logo animation was just starting. So, I turned GUI boot off.

after upgrading to an msata I had a bunch of problems, but updating my BIOS to 1.26 got rid of this problem, fixed my extremely low WEI processor score, etc. don't know why but after that update my computer feels perfect
