My new T60 comes with a Thinkpad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Express Adapter. It can find the network nearby. It can get an IP address. However, I just can't connect to the internet with it. Now my laptop works as a desktop. I've tried different versions of drivers and Thinkpad access connections. Nothing helps.

Does this mean something is wrong with the hardware? Does anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it?

I've heared lots of positive reviews about the Thinkpad card, but it just doesn't work for me.

Check to make sure its getting a gateway address. When the wireless card is connected go start>run. Type cmd in the run box. Then when the dos window pops up, type ipconfig/all. This will show you all of the configuration data for the network devices. Check to make sure that the wireless card it getting a valid ip address of something other than 169.254.XXX.XXX. Also check that there are DNS servers and most importantly, a gateway address.

I tried this and the IP address is 192.168.0.6, and gateway address is 192.168.0.1. I tested the router with other's laptop and it was all right. Are there anything like windows or BIOS configuration that may cause such kind of problem?

I am trying to contact Lenovo technical service, but it's hard to reach them. I wish they won't ask me to send this machine back for checking.

when you are connected to the router, try to access the admin settings on the router, or ping another computer on your network.

They finally sent me a new wireless card. I replaced it by myself. However, everything is still the same. It can connect to the router, get an IP address and the singal is excellent!!!
But I still can't surf the internet with the wireless.
Something weird is that it can send lots of packages, but only receive a few (less than 10). Now I think maybe the antenna is not connected very well, but it is built in the screen. It's hard to open it and check. I'm really tired of this. I bought a laptop, but I can't use the wireless. It's so funny.
Does anyone know what else could be wrong? I will appreciate your help. Thanks.

Don't know if this is any help or not. I just received a new X41 that had the same exact trouble. I got on the horn to IBM tech service and a tech came on within a few minutes. Basically, from his directions, I deleted the BG 2200 software and then reinstalled it. I think there were 4 major files I had to download and as I remember the procedure, it took nearly an hour to do it. When we were done, the internet popped up and has been rock study ever since.

From my experience, I can't say enough about the IBM tech service in Atlanta.

    Thanks a lot.
The first time I called them, they asked me to reinstall the power manager and a few other softwares, but actually he just reinstalled the driver for the card, which I have done several times. Maybe I need to call them again and see what they will say. Each time I have to explain a lot to make that tech man believe there is really something wrong with the wireless.
