    Hi guys!

I currently own an X61S which I'm loving (even bought an SSD for it!) - but the bottleneck (imo) is the screen.

Is there a thinkpad out there (between 11-13 inches) with a screen as nice as the ones that are in the newer Macbooks? I've seen some of them, and I must admit that while I'm not close to leaving my Thinkpad the screen on a Macbook is better by leaps.

    Thanks :)

I think most people would say the X220 with the IPS screen.

IPS is better than any screen in Macbooks

Do all X220's have the IPS screen, or is that an expensive add-on?
Thanks for the quick replies !

If you live in the USA, it's a $50 add on. It's the option listed as the "Premium" display on the config page.

Thanks a lot. Really appreciate it :)

I live in Europe, but I'll be visiting New york in a couple of months, so I'll be looking for a new laptop then...!

    Thanks again.

The W520 with an FHD screen is pretty good too.

My x200s has a pretty snazzy LED screen. :)

Yep. I miss my x200s 1440x900. I liked that screen much more than my x220 1366x768. If the LV CPU in the x200s were fast enough for my current work, I would never have 'upgraded' to the x220.

The IPS screen on the x220 looks ok, but when I go back and use my x200s I don't miss the IPS at all. I barely notice any difference in quality. I know this makes me an outcast here ;-)

I think the term nicest screen is too subjective.

For some people whose vision is not so great, the nicest screen for them is 1368x768 as everything is large and blown up. For people like me, I take priority for higher resolution screens, so 1080p or higher is preferred. People who do serious photo editing will appreciate high resolution as well as a screen that has 97% or higher color gamut and will appreciate true 10 bit screens.

Again it all depends on what you are looking for.
