So I did a fresh install of Windows 7 with a new SSD a few days ago on my T410. So far, so good.
One issue I'm having though, is with the suspend/sleep feature. If put it to sleep, it won't turn back on. Either with the power button, fingerprint reader, or anything, you hear the computer turn back on and start running, but it's like the screen never turns on or the system is fully responsive. Also, the thinklight doesn't flash for a moment, like I recall it used to do before the fresh install.
Hibernate, however still works just fine. Just not sleep.
Any ideas?

Some more detail on what exactly happens when I try to wake it up:
- It goes to sleep just fine, no problems there.
- The power light slowly flashes and the fingerprint reader indicator turns on, just like it used to.
- But if I try to turn it back on in any way (power button, Fn, fingerprint reader), I can hear the fan and hard drives turn on, but the display doesn't, the thinklight doesn't flash on, and nothing else seems to be responsive.
- Also at this point, the power button light is still pulsating like it does when it was asleep.
- All i can usually do is hold the power button to reset it, and start from there. -
I've got a w510 and occasionally have the same problems, the thinklight, status leds blink and the system requires a hard restart.

chupacabras, I'm not sure he's having the same problem you are...
I had the exact same issue back in January.
Are you setting any BIOS passwords? Did you enable TXT or TPM? Try a BIOS update first. Otherwise, go into your BIOS, reset and clear your TPM, then turn it off/disabled. Then disable TXT. The fingerprint reader/CSS seems to do screwy things with the TPM. Also, if you don't know what TPM/TXT is, or why you need it, then you don't -
One other thing to try: make sure your video driver is correct and up to date.
-
^^ second that.
Update/Reinstall/roll back the video driver. -
Just a curiousity question nexentt, do you also have shutdown problems that exhibit the same or similiar symptoms you describe?
-
-
I'm using that one, and it still has the same issue when trying to sleep.
Actually that leads to another little issue I noticed today, is that I can't seem to install any of nVidia's more updated drivers for my T410 (with the NVS 3100m), when I run the installer the only option is to update the HD Audio Driver.
That's actually a little annoying, as I've got a rendering program that can use the 3100m's CUDA technology (whatever it is exactly), which is apparently supposed to make a dramatic difference... but Lenovo's older driver can't support CUDA. I'm probably going to make a new thread to find a solution to this, but since it came up. -
Ah ok. I was kind of hoping there was a correlation between our systems, so I could get to the root of the problem. I and atleast one other here reported strange shutdown problems with the T410.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. -
Just a status update: I've installed new video drivers (not from lenovo) that I found from here: v257.15 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | NVIDIA Desktop and Notebook OEM - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
But still, no dice with the sleep issue. It's not a huge deal anymore, I've found using hibernate seems to do the trick quickly enough with this new SSD. But it'd still be nice to have suspend working, if anyone has any other ideas. -
I've got the opposite problem. About one time in five, when I'm trying to hibernate my W510, the power button stops blinking (stays on), the HD activity indicating led goes off, and it just hangs--screen off, power button still lit, wifi/bluetooth indicators on, and unresponsive to any interventions. I have to hold down the power button until it does a hard shut down.
Anybody else? -
