If only I can find one of those i3 boards and swap them into my X120e... really don't like that rounded design.
-
totally agree ToniCipriani... but i may end up buying one if lenovo does a refresh with ivy bridge CPUs. I love my x120e but i need more grunt.
-
I have seen a the model-name X131e on a chinese website. Maybe thats the Ivy-Bridge Version of the X130e.
-
-
Keep in mind you can buy an macbook air with an "i7" in it...
-
Same with the asus zenbook and alienware m11x. there are a few high powered 11.6" laptops out there, not many though (i have been looking). They're not full-powered CPUs though, they're UM variants with a 17W TDP.

The 11.6" Asus U24E is available with a 35W i7. Maybe with Ivy Bridge this will prove to be true for the x131.

Hello! I just picked up an x130e today. Nice little guy, good replacement for my netbook. Yes, its a little chubby, but its ok & I just love the keypad on it - so much better that the flat keys on my Acer netbook. By the way, does anyone know how to stop/remove the stupid beep when it turns on & off. There's got to be a way. Any ideas? Thanks!!
-
my opinion?
make it available in retailers, (like the x120e) and market it as an ultraportable. OR keep the current form-factor, but have an option to cram an i7 +discrete class graphics or trinity APU. make the CPU/GPU options varied to meet every price-point. Trinity APU for the common cheap@$$, i7 and nvidia/AMD discrete class graphics + backlit keyboard for the fancy folk (why not? the m11x did it)
This will be in response to the ultrabook craze where skimping out on features and port selections for a thinner chassis seems to be the trend. The thinkpad line has always been about substance over style anyway. (X1 being the sole exception) Gamers and pro-users will go nuts over this thing. It will fill the gap the m11x left.
Lenovo will literally be rolling in the dough. -

I agree with him, the beeping is pretty annoying. Thank goodness, at least I have the option to shut it off.
What makes you think Trinity APUs will be for cheap@sSes? You must've meant smart@sSes considering AMD offers a better balanced chip than Intel for less. Considering Intel's integrated graphics are a generation behind AMDs APUs, for the average consumer it would be wise (save $) to go with an AMD APU. Otherwise, you're paying more for less by going with Intel. Again, the average user will not be able to tell the difference in processing power, but they will see difference in graphics performance.
IMO, I don't see why a Trinity based laptop can't have the "high-end" parts like a backlit keyboard, or IPS matte display. Manufacturers have to start taking AMDs APUs more seriously and realize the potential. If anything, the money saved from going with an AMD cpu v. Intel cpu can go towards these components consumers really want! Can't wait to see Trinity and Brazos 2.0 in "ultraportables" and "thin & lights" like the x131.
Now an Intel cpu and Nvidia/AMD discrete GPU are a must if you're after the most performance. -

I just ran across descriptions of the X130e recently. Know it's been out a while, but I wasn't aware of it. The press was pretty quiet and I haven't seen it in any retail stores around here.
So, what's the verdict? Is it worth the $ as a nice beater laptop for home use?
I am thinking about getting one so the "laptop hostile" family members have something to type on. (Cheap laptops are roadkill and expensive ones are a waste of money.)
Thanks in advance! -
x130e is gaining some ground over at newegg.com
usually when the reviews are so good, the sales pickup there remarkably, and its known to be a nerdy place so could go. Really, there is still remarkably little competition in this space if one wants excellent graphics performance. If not, they never get here. i recently rebuilt a dell 14" with one of the mid level i3's but the graphics performance, while pretty good, was not a whit better than this, and the user interface to the gpu looks amateurish compared to AMD/ati. I note also that the few A-series that are still going out new get snapped up. -
I just got a x130e e-450 anything i need to know or should update???
-
I'm seriously surprised at the lack of interest in this computer, the x120e was very popular, I just picked up a refurbished E450 x130e from the outlet for $248 plus tax, as a former x100e and x120e owner I'm looking forward to it. The review from Notebookcheck is generally positive.
-
Well, it looks goofy compared to the 100/120, which is primarily the reason i dont want one.
That, and the terrible clickpad -
hey guys im pretty sure that bip noise could be disabled in the BIOS, at least on my x120 is possible!

Yeah, the x131e...

I got one on the way! e300 x130e for $246 shipped from outlet lenovo
I am kinda having buyers remorse guys tell me I did good! -
you did good. -
Hello folks
Just wanted to ask the x130e owners if, with the latest/greatest drivers etc, Netflix performance is good? and, if you could, qualify as to the laptops own screen and on a 1080p monitor attached via hdmi? -
-
yes, I know that. silverlight is a whole 'other' animal

Looking at getting an X131e to replace my HP DM1, and my main concern is how usable the screen is outdoors. My DM1's glossy screen is totally unusable.
-
also I dunno how good of a deal that one is anymore. if you're an amd fan there are a couple thinkpads that run the higher end amd apu's for not much more money than x131e. also beware that some sellers are still selling E-300-equipped x131e, and I definitely feel that is not a good bang for the money.
i.e. http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Ideapa...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
for $419 - it is the older A6-3420M but that is more than 3X the performance of what's in the x131e. -
I just want something with an anit-glare 11.6" screen, SSD, and good battery life. And a decent trackpad.
-
I assume the x130e is as stout. its bigger and heavier than it should be for a 11.6" but the reviews are good.
PassMark CPU Lookup
as to performance, I'd go for the E2-1800 which unit is less money but the same perf as the E-450
I don't know how the drive is placed in the X131e - the X120E is a breeze to work on. you can replace drive with SSD in about five minutes flat. load Win7/8 clean from scratch. -
Red x131e. Got this to replace a dead Acer netbook.
24-Dec-12 update
This's the Intel i3-2367M version with 7x series chipset and USB 3.0 support. Strangely, Lenovo chose to stick with a Sandy Bridge chip. A Russian review site already reviewed an x131e with i5 Ivy Bridge some time back.
Intel's site says the processor can address up to 16GB DDR3-1333 RAM. I took a chance and purchased a 8GB SODIMM. Kingston KVR16S11/8, 8GB PC3-12800 CL11. The little tubby booted right up and reported 12GB (4 + 8) total.
Need to tear off the stickers...
26-Dec-12 update
BTW, I'm using a cheap US$9 ebay sleeve. The width is perfect for the X131e. Should fit the Edge E130/135 as well.

Took out the bundled harddrive and backed up all 3 partitions using Acronis True Image Home 2011.
Cloned the MBR and Windows7_OS partition onto a Samsung 830 128gb. Works great.
