Hi, I purchased a Thinkpad x230 from Lenovo a little more than a half a year ago with the 500 gb hdd installed. After receiving it I installed a Crucial SSD into the mSATA slot and cloned the system_drv and windows_os partitions onto the new SSD using Clonezilla and installed LInux alongside them in the SSD. For the month after I installed the ssd I used it lightly (max 2 hours a day, charged at night) and never really noticed its battery capacity. Due to some circumstances, I was did not use my x230 much for about half a year.

Recently I started to use it again and noticed while taking it on the go that it had a horrendous battery life (maximum of 3 1/2 hours on half brightness, web browsing, word proscessing, etc.). I got roughly the same out of running it on Linux. This is much less than the advertised 7-9 hours i expected of it based on reviews and what Lenovo advertised. The confusing part for me though was that the maximum capacity of the battery had only dropped to 54 Wh from the designed 62 Wh.

Do you think there is a problem with the battery or the way I configured my laptop? Should I get the battery replaced with Lenovo?

    Welcome to the forum!

I'd start with the latter. Cloning from a spinner to a SSD is a huge "no-no" in my book, but it shouldn't be affecting the battery life to such an extent. What is the size of your ThinkPad's battery?

Unless the battery completely fails within the year of purchase date - or you bought an extended warranty for it - Lenovo will NOT replace it.
