Everything was working beautifully, until one day, the wireless card in my x40 basically disappeared. It won't show in device manager, and no utilities i've found can discover it.
The Fn+f5 "wireless power" button is turning on and off the bluetooth, but seems to have no effect on the wifi function, although the literature i have seen leads me to believe it should - the wifi led remains dark.
I am running x86 XP. It is the 1.2ghz ULV edition.
I assume my x40 is running the "IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II".
All i can assume is that the card has died - as nothing i have tried has had any effect.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Can probably pick up a card on eBay pretty cheap. Could try re-seating the card to see if that helps. It don't cost nothing to try.

same thing happend to my x40 and it turned out the card died and it had to be replaced.. i was under warranty, so it was not an issue.. they just sent me a replacement card and I installed it.
