    Hi all,

I'm ready to replace my HP notebook and have pretty much decided on a Thinkpad. There are some decent deals right now for either the T500 or the W500. Other than price, is there any reason to choose one over the other? The W comes with a slightly better processor and HD. Any info on the ship time for these -- if I ordered today, when to expect to receive it.

    Thanks.

I also have a question regarding these two laptops...

Are all the ports placed identically between the two since they both have the same exact dimensions and weight ?

The big difference between the T500 and the W500 are the GPU and the availability of the WUXGA screen the W500. When you order you should get an estimated ship date from Lenovo. More than likely it will arrive before then, but delays do happen from time to time.

Anyone else want to chime in? I'm all but ready to push the Submit button tomorrow. I know I'm preaching to the choir, which is why I posted in this forum. T500 @ roughly $950. W500 @ roughly $1100.

If I can get one in 7 days that's a plus.

I'm just looking at the unit being offered on sale this particular week. No customizations. W has better CPU, HD size, and GPU. I'm thinking it's worth an extra $150.

Consider the W500 and T500 as the same machine - but with a couple of options (higher end screen, higher end gpu) not available on the T500, and the other options on the W500 more often than not steered more towards extra performance (but varies country to country and day to day).

If you want the WUXGA screen you chose the W500, similarly the dedicated gpu with twice the ram. If these options don't mean anything to you, just look at the T500, unless there is no difference in price.

90% of everything is the same, whether W500 or T500 - there are far more choices to make within each series than between.

initial choice of cpu, gpu, screen are crucial, for they are basically fixed for life of the machine.

HDD storage amount and ram amount are easily changed after purchase, as is warranty.

the biggest improvement you can possibly make is switching a HDD for a SSD.
