Is there any programs where i can switch on/off the hdd when i see fit? As i am looking to use
the hdd only as a storage drive.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...tery-life-regarding-ssd-hdd-combinations.html
There is such a program as stated in post 2 but he is unsure of it..
Also would the difference in power usage be noticeable? Half an hour more? Less noise? Heat?
EDIT: Just went to crucial.com and it says the msata is not compatible and the list
of compatible ones are
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=ThinkPad T430
Any inputs? I know Kaso has the crucial msata. . Not sure in what laptop though

I use the Crucial M4 in my Samsung Series 9 notebook. See CT256M4SSD3 - 256GB, mSATA Solid State Drive , from Crucial.com. It should be fully compatible with the T430 or T430s.

Okay! how about the turning off of a hdd when not using?
-
Another option: You may want to put a 2.5" SATA SSD in the main bay and move the stock HDD to the UltraBay, using a caddy adapter. This way, you can physically remove the whole thing when it is not needed. -
I will rather be save then sorry. And anyway the msata is an empty slot waiting for something to be slotted in. HA.
If i were to pursue that method. Do you think this will fit SSD Promotion | Strontium in the T430?
There is a 9.5MM/7.5MM which is being used in the T430?
Will get this too if i go this way. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300564813800?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619&afsrc=1 You recommended this
a few days ago. Have not gotten around to purchasing it as i was bent on msata a while ago. But all suggestions is
considered. -
If you already have firm ideas about something, I stop offering advice based on real experience.
(Do you know there is a "rep" button to show that you appreciate someone's help?) -
Maybe i will get this too if i will go the caddy way. http://us.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=71145&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1286
Yes i see the rep power. A few times i have tried to look for it but unsuccessful. -.-
EDIT: I think i have repped you and thors.hammer. -
In any event, stick with Crucial, Samsung and Intel when you consider SSD. -
Intel 520 Series 120GB 2.5in SSD MLC 25nm SATA3 Solid State Disk Flash Drive OEM
Oh it's no argument, i am unsure of whether i want the msata or the normal one either. .
Intel 520 Series 120GB 2.5in SSD MLC 25nm SATA3 Solid State Disk Flash Drive OEM
This seems good too. And intel has international warranty.
I am leaning towards the msata cause it is easier in terms of installation. But
quite a few normal sized ssd have local warranty. .
Should i get either the strontium or the intel normal sized ones just because of warranty?
Am i correct to say that the t430 uses a 7mm hdd?
And would this work?

Dimension : 100 x 69.9 x 6.8 mm
Thinkpads and msata/normal ssd.
