for all the people that are still not convinced what is the most durable notebook out there.

This doesn't prove anything... Try working in the scorching desert with that and a Panasonic Toughbook.

thinkpad knows best Notebook Deity
What is so testing about the desert? Heat? Sand? I don't really see how having a laptop in the desert is the ultimate test, to me it's when a construction worker uses these or a Toughbook on site and we naturally see what happens when mishaps happen, to the notebooks. In the desert sand can get into any notebook and cause anomalies. Heat can affect and will affect any notebook regardless of brand. We know the ThinkPad is probably not as tough as it used to be, and probably not as much as the Toughbook.O f course it isn't!! It is a bloody business oriented notebook, Toughbooks are made to stand tons of abuse because they do work with people that abuse them. This is why they don't compete.

sgogeta4 knows a thinkpad and toughbook are not the same market niche. He is saying a thinkpad isn't the most durable laptop available.
As you said thinkpads are business notebooks and good for basic bumps and accidents. You can't run them over or anything like a toughbook. -
Toughbooks are beasts. The last time I had one in my hand, I felt extremely confident I could readily bludgeon someone to death with itand then get right back to computing. I seriously doubt my ThinkPad would fare as well.

I think Lenovo needs to spend more effort in getting Thinkpads to run properly and address driver issues rather than building a machine for outerspace.
Lenovo is slowly losing valuable customers imo -
Inside a NASA spacecraft is not exactly extreme conditions. The temperature is controlled within a fraction of a degree, and it is a zero-dust environment. Other than launch/reentry g-forces, I can't think of anything taxing.

Wow! how much irrelevant replies here. toughbook are not compared to business notebooks, that's clearly not the same category.
And I should really think twice before posting a nice video here. -

I know of such instances where thinkpads survive tremendous trauma like you mentioned but the difference between can doing with a thinkpad vs doing it with a toughbook (the series that are built to be fully durable) is a bit different. -

Durable isn't the proper word.
You could go with reliable, dependable, etc, given that the closest tech support center is on another planet...but that may give Dell the advantage as they may actually be closer to the Indian tech support centers than the rest of America that complains about them. -
different person different opinion.. rite??
to me, i have been using thinkpad since IBM.. then using apple system for a year.. then i use HP compaq.. Acer.. Toshiba.. but then.. finally..
