Are you asking this question out of curiosity or want to decide on something to do with the GPS feature?

A lot of civil engineering, mining, land surveying and geologist may use the GPS for GIS (Geological information systems) purposes.

The GPS systems on the laptop are used in conjunction with more accurate GPS systems, laser rangefinder, etc.

I use it for Google map and do some simple site surveying work for property development. Most people i know just play it for couple of days and forget about it, just like using the various GPS enabled mobile phones.

    Thinkvantage Maps = Google maps

You can use most of GPS software. In program you must select com-port and rate.

Most of software use NMEA_0183 protocol.
