It was working fine and I might of accidentally changed a setting but none the less I'm here now to hopefully fix it.

I have all the default settings on and using power source optimized it turns off the display but never turns off the HDD or enters standby?

Anybody with ideas on how to fix this or questions for more info please help. I really rely on my battery and not turning things off could really mess with the amount of work time I have.

    Thanks

Are you in 'Advanced Mode' or 'Basic Mode'? In Advanced mode you have to all those options.

I am in advanced mode. It says it will stop the HDD spinning in 15 min and standby in 25 but nothing happens other than the display turning off...

It should be working, chances are you have something running the the background and the power manager doesn't realize that it's idle. Check your 'Task Manager' > Processes > I/O Read Bytes. Whichever keeps going up should be the one using your hardrive while idle.

I think that might be the issue. I think you solved it.

Apparently the problem is not fixed but I really thought that was the problem. I stopped the program I was running in the background. Could it be a process that is hanging or something like that?
