Hey All,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've had my T410 for 4 months now and love it but I ran into my first problem recently, which seemingly happened out of no where and was hoping I could get some help here. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit home that came with my T410, and when I tried to log in yesterday I kept getting an error message that my User profile couldn't be loaded. I've never had this issue before and my system was running fine just hours earlier.
Anyway, after restarting and many numerous more attempts I ended up just restoring to factory state from the rescue partition, but before I did I used the option to save selected files to an external hard drive. Problem is now when I try to restore individual files from the thinkvantage rescue and recovery app, it doesn't detect my external HDD and I'm stumped at this point why it isn't detecting it. Any suggestions or ideas as to why its not working or any help in general would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

I could really use some suggestions... anybody?? When I start i back up in rescue and recovery i see the files I saved earlier on my external hdd but apparently they are hidden when I start them in windows and can't access them.
edit:
BTW I tried searching this and lenovo help and couldn't find how to unhide the files. I also tried changing permissions on my external hdd and still no luck, I have some important documents I need to recover so any help would really be appreciated!!!
also I can access the folders and files through command prompt but when i try to copy them through command prompt I get the access denied msg.
Please help! thanks! -
Sorry man, I have never used the Rescue and Recovery for personal files.
I think the last time I hit this issue I used the workaround in Error message when you log on to a Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer that uses roaming user profiles: "Unable to log you on because your profile could not be loaded, please contact your administrator". Worked for me. -
thanks halobox...
any suggestions??? anybody? what do I have to do for a response?? -
Could try hitting F8 and choosing last known good configuration when it comes up.

I have never used Win7 Home so I don't have some specific steps, but on Pro, Ultimate and Enterprise you can enable the RID 500 Administrator account and login with it.
Once you are the real Administrator, you can assign permissions, fix perms, take ownership, etc.
I'm sure there's a way to do all that on Home, but I don't know how and don't have time to research it right now. Sorry.
