I don't really get the point of Thinkvantage.
Seems like a bunch of stuff I don't need with a dedicated button.
    Am I missing something?

Can I repurpose the button to be something useful like automatically bringing up the lenovo driver page or something?

I don't use all the Thinkvantage stuff myself so you're not alone. You can remap the Thinkvantage button to open a different application altogether, have a read of this thread.

I completely agree with you, I think it's rather pointless, but I've learned to not look at it when I open up and turn on my notebook. :p

Normally I don't install the Thinkvantage tools, but it saved my boss's (and my) butt once many years ago. My boss was traveling abroad and Windows XP suddenly couldn't boot, and he was able to boot into the Thinkvantage tools to access his email and complete a multi-million dollar business deal.

Windows 7 is a lot more reliable and we've not had boot problems in a long time. (Knock.)

Some people can't get the timing down for interrupting boot order/recovery partition. I leave it be, it can save your behind in a tight situation.

While I agree there is really no need for it, I've run into a situation where Lenovo support is being rather difficult. On my 19 day old W520, I have 2 RAID'd 320GB hard drives with climbing Reallocated Event Counts but Lenovo support refuses to replace the drives until I give them an error code from ThinkVantage Toolbox. It's pretty ridiculous if you ask me but they won't talk any further with me until it was done.

yeah, it happened to me once also, a thinkcentre in my office was having some problem with the motherboard, and Lenovo support will not replace it until their toolbox show up an error message...

Productivity Center was more useful than Toolbox, IMHO.
