I tried googling/searching for this problem but didn't find any answers, only other people that have had the problem but never resolved it.

    So here it goes:

When i first got my t61p, pressing the blue thinkvantage button would give you a boot menu, where you could select whether you wanted to boot to bios, rescue and recovery, diagnostics, etc.

After I reinstalled XP, when I press the blue thinkvantage button to interrupt boot, it takes me straight into rescue and recovery.

I've tried uninstalling reinstalling the rescue and recovery software but no go.

I also tried the MBR fix tool lenovo has but still no go.

Any idea how I can get my boot menu back to the way it was before I reinstalled windows? I've even tried restoring back to factory image and I still can't get the original boot menu back.

    All comments appreciated :)

I tried fixing and replacing the mbr but...

I get the menu back on the first boot. So I press the thinkvantage button, get the menu, and press f11 to go into rescue and recovery. After I reboot I press the thinkvantage button again and it goes straight into rescue and recovery; no menu is given.

I guess I can live with it its just very annoying and if anyone has had the same problem post here, maybe we can figure out a solution.

when you reinstalled XP the first time, did you completely wipe out the disk, including the service partition (ie, did you remove all partitions, even hidden ones)?

only the C: partition with the windows installation. I never touched/reformatted the hidden partition.
