    SOLVED:

I installed the Thinkpad Productivity Center on my fresh install of Windows Server 2008, but the button to activate it doesn't do anything when pressed. The productivity center still runs when you open it from the start menu.

Does anyone know how to get the Thinkvantage button working?

Also, how do you get the on screen display for volume, brightness, etc to show? I couldn't find the driver.

    Question:
Thinkpad Power Manager crashes whenever opened. I have .Net 3.0 installed, but it still crashes. Any ideas?

make sure the system interface driver is installed.   this might be what's causing power manager to fail even with .net 3 installed.

I checked and the Sys Interface driver was already installed. I reinstalled it, but power manager still crashes.

did you install .net 3 before installing power manager?   if not, uninstall and reinstall power manager.

it works perfectly fine on my X61s under 2008 enterprise and all i did was install .net 3, the system interface driver, the power management driver, and power manager in that order.

if the above doesn't work then install the desktop experience as this may contain some of the power management snap-ins needed for power manager to work correctly.

Reinstalled those 4 drivers again, and now it works like a charm. Thanks!

Officially have a 100% working install of Windows Server 2008 converted to a workstation OS.
