This has to be a pricing error right?

I agonized over choosing a laptop for 6 weeks and thought my search had finally come to a conclusion. I really like the T400 so I decide to go ahead and place an order, but when choosing my screen options this is what comes up:

    14.1 WXGA TFT
    14.1 WXGA+ TFT [add $30.00]
    14.1 WXGA+ TFT w/ LED BL [add $360.00]

$360! Just for the LED. This has to be an error right? I called customer service but I got some completely useless employee who had no idea if it was an error or not and told me they might fix it sometime soon if it was. Yeah, real helpful. Can anyone tell me if that's a normal price? I really want the LED BL option but this is way too expensive for me.

It is pricing error I believed as I have ordered a T400 a while ago and remembered it to cost only around 80$ (LED + camera) and this is with CPP/Student discount. There's no way it could be that expensive, many laptops' screen are now LED backlit

    I agree with chen.
It used to be around 70 more than TFT.

Maybe they are having supply troubles with the LED. They may have raised the price to discourage people from getting the LED screen (at $75 I don't know anyone that would reasonably choose a CCFL, but at $330 I can see people making that decision). Alternatively they could have an overload of stock of the T400 with CCFL screens for the same reasons I mentioned above.

Actually, I just checked the US site. The price difference between a CCFL and an LED is only $50 (at same resolution/camera setting). So I recommend that you build a quote and/or place your order now.

I'm wondering the same thing. It's ridiculous. and it's hold me, and I believe many more potential buyers from ordering. Hope it could be fixed soon... so I can place my order..

It's wrong. I ordered a T400 with an LED a while back, and it was ~$70 more, as cn_habs said.

Still no change. Wonder what's happening. If it doesn't change today I guess I'll give them a call again.

There is no error. I called to check. They probably do have some point in setting this price for the LED option.
Personally, I wanted very much the LED option, but... sorry... 360CAD...
Neither way, I ordered it without the LED, and totally, with a $250 ecoupon it costs me 1153CAD, that is... $910USD! Very good price, isn't it?

    P8400; 160GB@5400rpm, BT, fingerprint, Vista Business, WXGA+, 6cell

EXCELENT, in my opinion! Just can't wait to arrive

so.. care to share what their "some point in setting this price for the LED option” were? because personally, i find it unacceptable, especially when the people south of the border are still enjoying it at the cheaper price(no offends). why do Canadians have to pay almost $300CAD extra for it?

    Why? Not in this case.
As a conclusion: I paid $910 usd (if transfered from cad). The same configuration, now, in US, costs $1182 usd, without any ecoupons of course.

that does not give them the right to raise the LED price by $300CAD. I mean they can raise the price by however much as they wish. But that doesn't mean it's reasonable.

Anyhow, the states people buy lenovo through CPP, which saves more than Canadian price. Even if you exchange them into same currency. And they have more options. such as Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350 ,128 GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA etc...

Absolutely not! But that's a fact in this case.

However... that did I lose, ordering WXGA+ without LED? higher brightness, lower power consumption? what else? was it worthy the extra 300$?

I just had a chat with someone at Lenovo through their online customer service system. This was the conversation:

Amy Parkin: Thank you for choosing Lenovo Chat service, this is Amy. How may I be of assistance today?
Customer: I was planning on ordering a T400, but I've noticed something I thought
    Customer: might be an error
Customer: when looking at the screen options, the option for the LED backlight costs $360
Customer: is that an error or is that now the normal price?
Amy Parkin: It is an error and the web team is working on fixing the problem. It should only take about 24-48 hours to be fixed
Customer: Ah alright, that's a huge relief. Thank you :)
Amy Parkin: Thank you once again for choosing Lenovo, please have a great day.
Customer: You as well, take care.

Thanks for sharing that. I also noticed that, and wondered what the heck was going on.

Hopefully they will 'fix' it so it is -360 ;)

Is there any way you can cancel your order and place a new one? Using the CAESCARYDEALS coupon in conjuction with the Friends and Family program (you'll have to look that one up) gives you a bigger rebate than the you pay what we pay deal. Well, for Canada anyways. In the USA you can just use CPP or EPP.
