I ordered an R61 on 3/9; estimated ship date was 3/27; then changed to 4/14. I called Lenovo around 4/8, and was told "it will be shipped in about a week". I asked why it took so long, and I was told batteries were in short supply. I offered to switch to a different battery, and was told the one I ordered, 6 cell, actually had the most supply among all types.

On 4/12 I got an email from Lenovo saying my order "has been received and is being processed". What? It has been "in process" on the order status page for over a month already, and you just received the order!?

And now the estimated ship date is 5/1/2008. I really like the R61, but obviously Lenovo does not like me. I give up.

    Sorry for the rant.

Have you tried posting on the Lenovo forums? The moderators there can probably let you know about the status of your order and follow up on it.

Configured to Orders are never the option for a situation under any sort of time pressure.

GoodToGo: Thanks for the suggestion. I posted a plea on Lenovo's forum.

SonDa: I asked the sales guy on the phone if there's anything I can change to make it faster. He said there isn't any. :(

deathlycold: Agreed. But I thought one whole month would not count as time pressure. Never ordered anything that needs two months to deliver.

I see Lenovo Canada is getting their act together. It took them only 8 days to ship your laptop out, that's pretty good.

    BQ487,

Did you use a different screen name over on the Lenovo board? I can't find you and just surfed the R shipping thread. Can you send me a PM here with your order number, the 2Cxxxx, or PM me on Lenovo's forum and let me know?

I don't want to overlook you.

    Thanks!

I'm jealous. I ordered my T61 in Canada and I didn't even receive some sort of estimated shipping date so far. After asking for it, I got an email saying that "Usual build and processing times are approximately 3 weeks". Well great, I knew that already from the website.

Wow, a free upgrade? Nice, I guess an extra month wait isn't too bad after all, i guess you saved ~$50 at least? =D
